This past week consisted of participating in the #babetowninstagramchallenge. It was a challenge at that. It really made me think. Think about myself, my goals, my life. It pushed me to get creative and put myself out there. Sometimes a good push is needed too! So everyday this week we had a new prompt/challenge. I shot these self-portraits (above) for day 2, which was to pick a word for the year. My word of the year is growth. I chose growth because I want to grow in every way possible this year. Grow artistically and photographically. Grow personally. Grow as a mother and partner. Grow in knowledge. The list goes on and on.
my 2 month old woke me up around 4:30am and we didn't get back to sleep until around 7am. For some reason she'd fight me every time I'd try to feed her, even though she was hungry. UGH! I don’t think there was any amount of coffee that could have made me feel energized.
I took some breastfeeding self-portraits, also known as "brelfies", to show the in-between moments.
This one was a happy accident. At first I was a little mad that this wasn't in focus, but then I realized this photo accurately depicted how I felt...a little blurry and out of focus from the lack of sleep.
These three little girls are something else. They make my heart so full.
I hope you enjoyed week 2. I can't wait to see what week 3 brings!
So here we are, one week into the new year. What are everyone's goals and resolutions? How are they going so far? Good I hope!
New things will be happening with Elizabeth Marie Photography over this next year and I'm super excited! One of the new things is a new project I'm taking on. I decided to try something different and instead of doing a 365 photo-a-day project like I've done in the past, I am doing a 52 week self portrait project with the main theme being motherhood/parenthood. It's not a strict theme by any means and I already plan on straying from it here and there hehe. 😜 My goal is to do a blog post each week showcasing the self portraits I took that week.
Have a wonderful Sunday, I hope you enjoy my first week's self portraits, and have a great week!
See Week One's self portraits below.
Me playing on the ground with my two month old. She was making some pretty goofy faces at me. 😄 Biggest sister joined in too.
After taking my initial week one self portrait, I wanted and craved to do more. So when the kids were somehow magically all napping at the same time and I had like two seconds to myself, I ran and took this.
My two month old was crying the whole time I was trying to defuse my two year old's screaming tantrum. Omg can you say noise overload. I wanted to go and hide so bad lol.
After everything calmed down I had this creative urge in me and wanted to take a self portrait while screaming (plus the light coming in the bathroom window was ahhmazing). I didn't actually scream though because it would've been crazy loud and I didn't wanna restart the kids' scream fest. even though I didn't scream for real, the act of fake screaming felt really good haha.
